Accelecom and Rajant Corporation Have Announced Two Additional Wi-Fi Sites in Lee and Wolfe County Available for Anyone in the Area to Connect To.
Accelecom, a Kentucky-based high-speed fiber optics provider and the exclusive wholesaler of the KentuckyWired Project, and Rajant Corporation, the pioneer of Kinetic Mesh® wireless networks with operations in Morehead Kentucky, established six Wi-Fi sites throughout Eastern Kentucky this week for the general public. As of August 10th, two more sites have been added in Wolfe and Lee County. All eight of these locations were chosen for these Wi-Fi zones due to the local Eastern Kentucky Health Departments’ established connections onto Accelecom’s fiber network.

The success of these efforts has been made possible thanks to Accelecom’s partnership with The Center for Rural Development (CRD). The CRD, responsible for introducing Accelecom to the Eastern Kentucky region, is a key player in the success of turning on these Wi-Fi zones in such a quick manner. Because the CRD had previously helped these Health Departments get the funding needed to build onto Accelecom’s fiber network, this network was in place and could be built upon for Wi-Fi during this emergency. Without the CRD’s support for the Health Departments to gain funding for a fiber network build out, building these Wi-Fi zones in a week’s time would have been impossible. Each zone covers an arc of approximately 200 meters (around 650 feet) from the installation point. Accelecom, Rajant, and The CRD want to remind the community that these sites are for anyone to connect to.
